Siegfried,

I think we nailed the problem. It's unexpected return from "uname -i"
is not exporting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.21.

Please do this manually on command line before starting Oracle
installation or add to /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh. Just make sure
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.21 is exported :-)

Please do me a  favor by sending output of "uname -i" and "uname -m"
and "uname -a". I will add note to installation guide about this
anomaly.
