Strange! See /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh : It does add above env variable
and works properly (64 bit Oracle with x86-64 SLES9). I have tested it
with both AMD64 and EM64T server.

It will be interesting to see "uname -i" output from these problem
servers, may be the cause for not exporting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL.
